Welcome to CATS eduCATe

eduCATe is a voluntary program initiated by Chandigarh Adventures Treks and Sports (CATS) in response to the avid interest shown by its members.

CATS has created an excellent track record of sharing their lives, jobs, celebrations and happiness with the people in need, demonstrating a truly humane adventurous spirit. Just like no trek or situation is difficult for them, they have treaded on the path of selfless service to come forward and give a part of themselves; whether it is blood donation to save the lives of unknown children undergoing heart surgeries, or gifting of books and uniforms to the little children living in the neglected pockets of our own city.

eduCATe has resulted from this feeling of oneness with every child they see. In their own little way, many of the CATS are helping these children. And they have been the motivation to bring along other like minded CATS into this initiative, which is purely voluntary.

CATS has set no target. We welcome you if you feel that you can secure the future of a child by paying any amount to the initial nominal corpus of only Rs.3,075/- which we raised through our last trek. You may choose to be a mentor for these children, especially if you are based in the tri-city. You may even recommend a deserving child to us.

Many have expressed desire to sponsor a child’s education by taking care of his/her need for books, school fee, uniform, etc., from time to time. Still others wish to make a fixed monthly contribution to support the effort of educating India. 5 CATS have already volunteered to sponsor a child each. A child of 12yrs and another of 7yrs have promised to make ‘some’ contribution from their pocket money towards eduCATe. Yet another 13yrs old daughter of a fellow CAT wants to fund the education of a girl child from her pocket money. One donor has come forward to fund the education of a deserving child till graduation and beyond.

A 10 year old boy of a Dhobi (washerman) and a 5 year old girl of a Peon have already been identified as our first beneficiaries of eduCATe.

It is really heartwarming to see the response. And we shall welcome any contribution. Though at the moment CATS does not have tax exemptions, but I am sure, those of us who are giving, are not doing it for saving tax, but for a genuine effort to make a difference in the life of a child.

We’re on our way to ‘eduCATe’ India. Thanks for being a part of it.
